Businesses face the growing threat of cyber security breaches

Businesses should be made aware of the growing threat of cyber security breaches. A survey on behalf of the government indicated that 90% of big businesses experienced some form of cyber security breach in 2015, compared to 81% in the previous year. Moreover, the cost of security breaches continue to soar, as in the most severe cases they can cost large organisations over £1.5 million and small businesses anything in the range of £75k to £311k. As around three-quarters of security breaches in large business are caused by a human factor, i.e. an employee unknowingly installing a virus or other type of malicious software on a company’s computer, it is highly important for employers to have training policies in place to prevent staff-related breaches and to address the use of internet in the work place.
